What are health and care ambassadors?
Kent and Medway health and care ambassadors are people working in health and care organisations who volunteer to inspire people from their local community to get into the sector. They may work or volunteer in the NHS in either primary, secondary, tertiary or community care, social care, public health or involved voluntary organisations.
Ambassadors are of any working age with a wide range of skills, expertise, experiences and career journeys. Their work can be anything from admin or corporate services, to estates, finance, public health or any of the clinical professions, at any level.
Health and care ambassadors will tailor the careers session to the request received but will always include their personal story, skills needed for their role, progression pathways and much more.
Interested in becoming a health and care ambassador?
The academy is working on recruiting health and care ambassadors in all areas of Kent and Medway with the aim that by summer 2024, there will be an ambassador available local to you.
We will also provide you with the tools and training you need to represent the sector and deliver information to people of any age whether that's job seekers, primary, secondary or higher education students, or those looking to change career.
You will be connected to a network of ambassadors and have the option of what events you attend in your local area.ย

Feedback
Feedback from local organisations who have used health and care ambassadors
โThank you so much again for coming in to speak to our business students this week about your role and career path. It was incredibly interesting, and the students and I had lots of conversations afterwards about what they heard, and what they learned from listening to you. [โฆ] Many hadn't considered financial management as a different role to finance accounting and so that led to a lot of interest. Overall, it was really enlightening for them to gain a better insight into how the NHS funding works, and the kinds of decisions you are having to make on how and where that funding is spent. Thank you again, your talk was a valuable part of my students' learning this year, and I hope we can welcome you again next year, to speak to the next business cohort.โ
